Kennecott Copper Mines

While I was at the Relief Society Session of General Conference, David took the kids up to the Kennecott Copper Mines Visitors Center. They had a blast! (Please note, I was not there and thus Lexie does not have her hair fixed and is looking like little orphan Annie.) There were some Asian tourists at the mines and one couple in particular was enthralled with the kids. David had asked/pantomimed them to take a picture of him with the kids. When David got up to get his phone back, the woman took his spot to have her picture taken with the kids. Once she was done, she switched spots with her husband. Apparently, children have been such a novelty on their trip to UT that they had to document the siting. David thought it was hilarious, whereas, Garrett, Collin, and Lexie hadn't a clue what was going on and why strangers were cozying up to them for a picture.

The kids were fascinated by this big pit. It was 2.5 miles wide and 0.75 miles deep. David, who is not a big fan of heights, would not let the kids even step away from the car unless they were holding his hands. Instantly upon arrival, he had images in his head of them tumbling off into oblivion.

The boys were acting out being miners. They got helmets with lights on them as souvenirs and demonstrated using picks. Somehow they got it in their heads that the miners use jack hammers so they were acting that out as well. I wish we had a decent video camera that could upload to the web. It was hilarious!

Lexie had to get into the action as well. She chose a pink, heart-shaped rock rather than a helmet but she got out and danced as her brothers 'worked.' Quite fitting for a princess if you asked me.

Fancy Nancy

I was at JoAnn's and saw this presmocked, prehemmed Fancy Nancy fabric on sale. I grabbed some and 5 minutes after getting home, I had a way cute dress for the little girls who loves Fancy Nancy. Here she is all dolled up and ready for church.

The boys could not be left out of the pictures. Please ignore the remains of lunch on the island. Such great lookin, fancy kiddos! I love them!

Collin Turns 6!

Collin turned 6 on September 15th. He is our shy child and thus most people think he is a perfectly behaved child. He has such adorable brown "puppy dog" eyes that people find so hard to resist. He sits quietly in class and doesn't cause disruptions. He doesn't talk out of turn and pester the child next to him when he is bored. He likes to blend in the background. At home and around those that he is comfortable with, it is a whole other story. He is quite witty and has good comedic timing to throw his little comments in. He is good at finding people's buttons (especially his sister's) and loves to push them. He is my little jumping bean. He loves to jump down the stair and see how many stair he can "fly" over. He loves legos, coloring, papercrafts, Phineas and Ferb, and Star Wars the Clone Wars.


Collin and Lexie have a hot and cold relationship, they are either best friends or worst enemies. Lexie picked out her present to Collin herself and couldn't wait to give it to him. He was very excited.

David recently read Where the Red Fern Grows to the boys at bed time. Collin loves dogs so he absolutely loved that book. I happened to see these faux coon skin hats and couldn't resist getting them for the boys.

Collin loves to take pictures and stick pictures to his bed. In the past, I have gotten the boys disposable cameras as stocking stuffers for Christmas. He was so excited to get a 'real' camera that he can see his pictures immediately and print them out. His favorite thing to take pictures of--his toys.


Before his birthday, David was giving Collin ideas for his birthday cake. I sat there listening and wishing for a roll of duct tape to shut David's mouth. None of the ideas they were discussing were simple cake ideas. Collin ended up wanting a Phineas and Ferb cake. I tried to do a piping gel transfer and it did not work, so I had to draw it by hand, and I am not an artist. The cake in my head looked much better, but Collin could recognize what it was so I suppose that is all that matters.


He looks so nonchalant with his chin on his hands, but he couldn't even wait until I had the camera in my hands to blow out the candles. It was a great day for this little man!
