Way to go Daddy

David ran the Salt Lake Marathon today--it was his first marathon. He has been looking forward for it since Christmas. (Don't ask me why, in my opinion, running 26.2 miles is torture, not fun! ) About three weeks ago, David sprained his ankle pretty bad and he was worried that he would not be able to run. But after shoving his foot in a bucket of ice water a couple times a day for a few weeks (once again, I ask myself--why the torture?) he felt he could run. I brought the kids and Rebekah (my little sister) downtown to watch him finish. We camped out just before the finish line to watch David. The kids were so excited to see Daddy running. (Garrett wanted to know if Daddy won the race.) His race time was 3 hour and 52 minutes, which put him finishing 283rd out of 1067 people running the full marathon. Here are some pictures!

Bitrhday girl!

Yesterday was Lexie's 2nd birthday. Don't listen to David if he tries to tell you she is a tomboy merely because she plays light sabers and guns with the boys. She is such a girly girl. She loves to dance and sing. She likes to make me tea and cookies in her kitchen. She loves to have her hair and nails done and loves to show her Daddy and brothers how pretty she is! She loves the Disney Princesses and Little Einsteins. She knows exactly what she wants and is determined to get it. She is a little chatterbox and can actually speak quite well for her age. I made her a tutu and she had a princess crown to wear for her special day. She had a castle cake and was ecstatic over the clothes she got. Everything was, in her words, "So cute!" She was so excited about all her presents. If you ever want to feel apprectiated, give a two-year a gift and listen to her say thank you and tell you very sincerely. "Its so cute!"






Garrett was worried that she would not be able to blow them out and would thus not get her wish. (She ended up needing a little help to blow them out--I didn't want her to start blowing so hard that she would spit as well.)

Easter

On Saturday, we went to Draper park for the Easter Hunt there. The kids got some candy, met the Easter Bunny and got some balloons! Fun stuff even though it rained on us a bit--ok, maybe just sprinkled.











I didn't really do Easter clothes for the boys because, really how many ties do they need?! But I did go all out for Lexie. She loved it too which makes it easy when I don't have to force her into clothes. Here are some pictures of the three of them and of their little in house egg hunt!

New Little Brother

Collin brought home a cup of grass that he had grown at school. The grass was getting long and thick so I told him it was time to give it a haircut. Collin decided that if he was going to give it a haircut, he ought to make it his little brother. So he turned it into a monster little brother and named it Piggy.

I have been doing fun girly things lately for Lexie, too. My sister Hillary and I spent an afternoon making hair bows and such one day.




About a year ago, I went to the Conference Sale at Deseret Book with my Mom and I saw this cute pattern for a skirt. I bought it and found some cute corduroy to make it out of. Then, I cleaned up and organized my house after my family left and promptly forgot about the skirt. I found it the other day and decided I had better make it before Lexie outgrew the pattern (good thing it went from 12 months to 3 years)! Here is the result. She put it on and started dancing and twirling--my little girly-girl.

Kid Bloopers

Here are some funny things they kids have said.

Garrett had an assembly on dental hygiene at school and came home with samples and lots of advice for me. He was telling me about teeth and the importance of cleaning them. I asked him what teeth are made of; he responded, "Plastic."

Collin is starting to read 3-letter words in school. He brought home a list of words to work on. He is supposed to sound them out and then use the word in a sentence. One word is "tot." Here is the sentence he came up with. "My mom tot me to read."

I was killing time in Costco while they were putting tires on my car. I was on the phone and just aimlessly walking up and down the aisles. Lexie was saying something over and over with great excitement trying to get my attention. I asked her to say it again and realized she was saying "Daddy Poop!" I immediately hushed her and looked at what she was pointing at. We were standing in front of the men's underwear. The model's head was cut out of the picture, so of course that tan, muscular man is Daddy. She is going to have to learn the word "underwear" and also the important concept that we do not poop in underwear!
